LOW EDGE'S PRIMARY, SHEFFIELD

We completed this bespoke outdoor classroom shelter for a primary school in Sheffield, creating a practical space that supports learning in all weather conditions. The structure provides shade in summer and protection during wet weather, which allows outdoor lessons to continue throughout the year.

As a result of this successful installation, the design later evolved into our Low Edges Outdoor Classroom, now available as a standard option for schools. This development allows other settings to benefit from a proven solution used in real school environments. It has since become a popular choice for schools looking to expand their outdoor classrooms.

The shelter includes custom-framed windows designed to suit the school’s layout and surroundings. In addition, a large integrated whiteboard supports structured outdoor teaching. Built-in seating provides space for around 30 children, making the area ideal for group activities and class sessions.

The structure sits on a solid timber decking base and features a durable hexagonal shingle roof. Furthermore, planters positioned on either side soften the appearance and introduce natural elements into the learning space.

Overall, this project shows how a bespoke school installation can develop into a practical, ready-to-install solution that works across a wide range of education settings.
